About the librarian
I have a passion for encouraging Christians to learn more about Christian men and women of the past (and present) so that we can be encouraged by what God can do with ordinary people - and that includes us! Biographies are a good way of doing this, and this Library has over 400 of them. Why not come along and get reading?
I qualified as a Librarian in 1993 and worked for more than 10 years in the NHS and University sector as a Health Librarian. I moved into a new career in 2005, and now work as a Careers Adviser. However, it seems that God wanted my Librarianship skills to still be used for Him, and in July 2009 I inherited 17 boxes of books, which became the starting point of the East London Christian Library. I pray that God will use this Library to help Christians grow in their faith, and also to help Christians from different churches and denominations to meet and encourage one another.
Opening Times
We are open on the last Saturday of each month (except December) from 11am to 3pm. Free tea and coffee is served, and there is plenty of space to sit and read, as well as choose books or chat to other Library visitors.
Our 2012 openings, God willing, will be 31st March, 28th April, 26th May, 30th June, 28th July, 25th August, 29th September, 27th October, 24th November.
If you want to visit the Library outside the usual opening times, please get in touch with us by e-mail, giving us a week's notice, and we will try and open at a time convenient for you.
